AT THE MARCOVICI'S
12"x12"
Acrylic on canvas
This painting is me in what I refer to as my “second” New York home.

One thing I really love about sisterhood is that it comes with a built-in best friend. This painting is taken from a photograph of my sister, Danielle and me during the late 1980s.

SANTA MONICA LISA
18"x29"
Acrylic on wood panel

I got the idea for this painting from a play on words I tossed around in my head one day. The piece is my depiction of R&B singer Monica, posed after the Mona Lisa in front of Santa Monica Pier. The color palette is an unexpected juxtaposition of muted greens with areas of vibrant pinks and blue. Her calm pose is contrasted against a carnival-like backdrop.

MALE FIGURE
18"x24'
Acrylic on canvas panel

This was an in-class study of a male model. The colors found in this piece were mixed from a basic primary color palette. White was included during the last 30 minutes of a four-hour sitting.

SELF PORTRAIT
24"x18"
Ink, marker, whiteout pen and wine on paper

Using diluted ink and red wine as a wash, I was able to create a sense of atmospheric space around the head. Bold diagonals, hot highlights, and flashes of pink and green can be found throughout.

DANIELLE
17 1/2" x 28"
Acrylic on wood panel

I found a kindergarten school picture of my sister and decided to re-imagine it as a painting. When you’re small and young, it seems like there’s space for every possibility and smiles come easily. The empty blue area in the painting symbolizes vast space waiting to be filled with childhood possibilities.
